Reality Change: The Global Seth Journal

From the 2nd Qtr 1997 Issue of Reality Change:

Partners in Thought

An invited editorial from SNI's President, Lynda Dahl

One day recently the SNI staff gathered for a weekly staff meeting. With Stan out of town, that left four of us to discuss the ins and outs of our daily business life. This particular morning I had decided to expand the usual agenda to include a discussion about the importance of volunteers to SNI's health. I was offering it more as a review, a let's-not-forget kind of talk. But for some reason the discussion went more than skin deep, and the result was that I was asked to write a brief editorial for RC about SNI's philosophical stance and the role volunteers play. So, here it is, in a nutshell.

When Stan and I formed SNI in late 1992 upon the death of Maude Cardwell, the founder of SNI's forerunner, the Austin Seth Center, we made a decision that was to set the future philosophical underpinnings for SNI. We felt that SNI had to have a vision beyond simply the growth of the company, a vision shared and implemented by many people.
One aspect of this vision is to see the Seth material become an acknowledged thought system in the world, standing shoulder to shoulder with the leading philosophical, theological and scientific thought systems now in existence. Like many Seth readers, the SNI staff longs to see the work of Seth, Jane and Rob shine as one of the most brilliant maps of consciousness available in today's culture.
According to Seth, by approximately 2075 the reality we creatively share has a high probability of being one in which consciousness is understood to be the primary force behind all creation. That will be the time when the first codicil, as penned by Jane Roberts in Psychic Politics, will be an accepted cultural statement and integrated into all levels of society: "All of creation is sacred and alive, each part connected to each other part, and each communicating in a creative cooperative commerce in which the smallest and the largest are equally involved."
We Seth readers know from the material that when change occurs in our reality it is a result of the thinking of the participating earth-tuned consciousnesses—not acts "decreed by the universe" to be in the best interest of our planet. We can't just wait for a benevolent god to make our world a better place to live. It's clearly up to each of us to do our part. Most readers agree that the material holds within itself the keys to a massive restructuring of global thinking, and the keys are simply the knowledge—and implications of the knowledge—of consciousness, simultaneous time, reality creation, and our inner selves. Yet in order for the material to have a dramatic effect on the thinking of great numbers of people, it must be consistently visible over time, not just episodically popular when a new Seth book is announced.
What would it take to bring visibility to the Seth material, visibility that would help magnify it into a universally known body of work with sustained impact? As a base line, the books have to be in print. Thanks to Janet Mills and Amber-Allen Publishing, most of the Seth-dictated books are back on the shelves, and the balance will soon follow. SNI and other publishers are making sure that all of Jane's other books will also soon be back on the shelves.
But just as essential, or perhaps even more so, is that people have to use the material. They have to talk about it, write about it, study it, use it—in other words, integrate it into their own lives. And they have to desire to see the words alive and well in this reality, and take action to make it happen. Which brings us full circle back to volunteers. SNI does not have the staff, the money nor the inclination to tackle the long-range, ongoing vision alone. Indeed, even if we had millions of dollars and dozens of staff members, SNI could not possibly help make this beautiful vision a reality without great numbers of people sharing the same intent and participating in the adventure. It's all about partners in thought and mass dreams and action taken in Framework 1.
The way we see it, SNI's partners in thought are all the splendid people who volunteer their time, effort, money and best wishes in order to make their private dreams a shared public reality. They may not necessarily work in regular, obvious eight-hour shifts toward that vision, but they offer what they can, when they can, with no strings attached: partners in thought, partners in dreaming.
Stan and I believe that groups like SNI, groups of people who are playfully, creatively redefining value fulfillment in the shapes of their own lives, form the psychic platform that is the true strength of the Seth material. They will speak (have spoken) its sentences in action throughout time.
